Director Legal Counsel As Director Legal Counsel, you will act as a strategic business partner to global Operations, R&D, Procurement and Corporate IT teams, supporting complex international projects and helping shape key business decisions. From supply chain and technology agreements to intellectual property and AI‑related matters, your expertise will help drive innovation and operational excellence across a highly regulated, global organization.
We’re looking for someone who listens as much as they advise – a trusted partner who builds relationships through clarity and pragmatism, not over‑lawyering or legal jargon. At Sonova’s legal team, protecting the business is the baseline. What sets you apart is your ability to enable and drivethe business forward, cut through complexity, and help the organisation move with confidence. Instead of saying "no", you find an alternative path – or create one. That’s how we lead through innovation and execute with agility and speed – and we need our legal partners to do the same.
In return for your commercial mindset, legal expertise and collaborative approach, you will join a dynamic international environment where you can influence business strategy in dedicated areas, work on and lead impactful initiatives and contribute to technologies that improve people’s lives.
More About the Role
Provide strategic legal advice and hands‑on support to global Operations, R&D, Procurement and Corporate IT functions
Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including supply, manufacturing, technology transfer, IP licensing, SaaS/XaaS and development agreements
Partner closely with business leaders on complex legal, compliance and risk management matters across international operations
Support supplier lifecycle activities, including RFPs, due diligence, contract negotiations and terminations
Advise on intellectual property, trade secrets and emerging technology matters, including AI tools and services
Manage and mentor Legal Counsel, including coaching, objective setting and performance development
Coordinate with external counsel and cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure practical, business‑oriented legal solutions
More About You
Master of Law degree or equivalent qualification from a reputable university
Qualified attorney with bar admission in Switzerland, the EU, UK or US
10+ years of legal experience gained in private practice and/or multinational in‑house environments
Strong experience supporting Operations, Procurement, R&D and Corporate IT functions within a regulated industry, ideally MedTech, life sciences or high‑tech sectors
Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial and technology‑related agreements and advising on trade compliance topics
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience advising senior executives in global organizations
Fluent English skills, both written and spoken; German is highly preferred, additional languages are a plus
