Qualifications and Responsibilities

Maine Certification as Administrator of Special Education 030.

Master's Degree in or related to special education.

Knowledge of most recent legal and programming trends in special education.

Ability to coordinate services for the Bangor Regional Programs for Exceptional Children (multiple handicapped and hearing impaired)

Assist in the design and implementation of staff development work for Bangor special educators.

Assist the Director of Pupil Services in the development and supervision of special education programs for the Bangor School Department.

Chair district IEP meetings in the Director's absence and assist in annual IEP reviews throughout the school year.

Share with the Director appointments on boards and committees in the community, representing the Bangor School Department.

Ability to support professional development for district special education

Ability to complete special education audit with MDOE

Ability to support transition of students from Child Development Services
