SUMMARY Evaluates and develops an Individual Education Plan (IEP) to meet the specific needs of students who qualify for speech and language therapy services.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Current Speech-Language Pathology License from the Arizona Department of Health Services and a current Speech-Language Pathologist Certificate from the Arizona Department of Education are required. FBI fingerprint check required or current DPS IVP Fingerprint Card. Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License to drive a school district vehicle.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS THE LIST OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS IS NOT EXHAUSTIVE AND MAY BE SUPPLEMENTED.

Evaluates and diagnoses specified speech and language deficits of students within the school district.

Serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team. May assume the role of case manager by coordinating and completing all necessary paperwork and forms to enroll a student in exceptional education within the district.

Design, develop, and deliver services prescribed in the IEP for each student that meets the qualifications for speech and/or language services.

Collaborates with any teaching staff member in developing a variety of classroom strategies to meet the educational needs of students with speech and language difficulties.

Promotes positive public relations with the community and within the school district.

Assists with the development of new programs as necessary to identify existing and potential programs to meet the needs of students in the area of speech and language therapy.

Assists with the development of training staff members to carry out existing therapy routines for students within a classroom setting.

Assists with the development of training parents to carry out home practice of speech and/or language goals.

MENTAL TASKS Communicates. Reads. Comprehends. Performs functions from written and oral instructions from observing and listening to others.

PHYSICAL TASKS Work involves the performance of duties where physical exertion is not normally required to perform all aspects of the job. Assistance is available as required to perform physically demanding tasks. Work involves sitting for extended periods of time, requires moving from one location to another, reaching, stooping, bending, and holding and grasping objects. Visual weakness must not prohibit the performance of assigned duties.

EQUIPMENT, AIDS, TOOLS, MATERIALS Uses office equipment such as telephone, computer, printer, calculator, and copier. Operates motor vehicle.

WORKING CONDITIONS Indoor. Office environment. Exposure to noise. Contact, with employees, students, and the public. Travel to Head Start Centers on the Tohono O’odham Nation.
