Tasks
The Technical Requirements Engineer is responsible for the structured collection, analysis, and specification of technical requirements from business and IT stakeholders. The goal is to establish a clear, complete, and implementable requirements foundation that serves as the basis for development, integration, and operations.
This role acts as a key interface between business, architecture, development, and operations, ensuring that requirements are efficiently captured, well understood, and sustainably implemented, especially in complex and heterogeneous IT environments (e.g., legacy systems, middleware, integrations).
Responsibilities and Key Tasks:
- Capture and structure technical requirements from business units and IT stakeholders
- Translate business needs into clear technical specifications
- Analyze existing systems, processes, and data flows (including legacy environments)
- Create and maintain clear and structured documentation (e.g., Confluence, Jira)
- Define interfaces, data formats, and integration requirements
- Collaborate closely with architecture, development, operations, and external partners
- Ensure end-to-end traceability of requirements across the lifecycle
- Support prioritization and evaluation of requirements
- Identify dependencies, risks, and optimization opportunities
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder alignment sessions
- Ensure quality, completeness, and consistency of requirements
- Support testing, acceptance, and handover to operations
Requirements
Professional Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification
- Several years of experience in requirements engineering within complex IT environments
- Experience with integration and middleware technologies (e.g., messaging, APIs, file transfer)
- Strong understanding of IT architectures, system landscapes, and data flows
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with agile and/or traditional project methodologies
Methodological Skills:
- Strong analytical and structured working approach
- Ability to present complex topics in a clear and understandable way
- Experience in modeling processes and requirements
- High quality standards and focus on sustainable solutions
Personal Skills:
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
- Ability to bridge the gap between business and IT
- High level of ownership and proactivity
- Strong team player with assertiveness
