The Opportunity We are exploring new AI technologies to extend the capabilities of our autonomous mobile quadrupedal robots. Large vision-language-action models show great potential to disrupt how robots perceive and reason about their environments. We partner with a leading organization that builds world-class large models to achieve general artificial intelligence and solve challenges in robotics.You will work together with our partner in a project team to evaluate the capabilities of their AI technologies and build proof of concepts and prototypes to validate the value for our applications and use cases, ultimately automating inspection of industrial sites. Your typical day will revolve around understanding their AI technology and our software stack, coming up with proof of concepts and evaluation methods, and implementing and executing those tests to provide feedback. You will build the software to integrate and connect the models with our robots and implement the demonstrations. You get the chance to work on cutting edge technologies and learn how to conduct technology feasibility studies.You will be closely working together with AI experts and software engineers who will provide you with guidance and mentorship. The preferred starting date is asap and the duration of the full-time paid internship is six months. Market&Our Technology ANYbotics transforms industrial plants in the energy, process, and utility sector by introducing robotics to a wide range of novel applications that so far were beyond reach. Our customers are large asset operators and industrial service providers pioneering the use of robotics technology for inspection and maintenance. Our mobile robot ANYmal uses legs for extreme mobility in complex environments, camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance, and AI for high-quality and consistent inspection results. We develop numerous customized hardware systems, including the entire robotic platform, actuators, sensors, inspection payloads, charging systems, and all related ANYbotics mechanical hardware.Your Profile Currently a master or recent graduate in computer science, or related fields at a Swiss educational institute (university or applied school of technology) Deep understanding of and experience with machine learning techniques, especially deep learning methods Experience with computer visionExperience with python and object-oriented programming in C++ Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work independently Fluent in English We kindly request applications from Schengen-Area citizens, or any student enrolled at ETH and EPFL who require a compulsory internship.
