About the Role The position is based in Zurich. You will work with our center of excellence for optical, quantum‑based communications and opto‑electronic observation and communication systems used in satellite and space technology. The role is part of the Bids and Business Development team and involves driving new business opportunities and supporting the entire proposal and bid lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Identify and capture business opportunities in line with the product and capability portfolio assigned, in ESA, ESA PRODEX, Space and Mission Prime companies and export markets.
Interact regularly with key stakeholders in TAS organization such as TAS / Thales Sales Team, Key Account managers, Product Line Managers, Capture Teams, and Bid Teams.
Identify and capture new product development opportunities and new product opportunities.
Develop and present the business case and contribute to securing development funding from public sector (e.g. ESA programs or Horizon Europe) or customers.
Initiate and oversee the proposal preparation linked to the identified business opportunities.
Lead the proposal process (Gate 0 / Gate 1) and either manage the hand‑over to the proposal capture leader or act as the appointed capture leader.
Support the proposal capture leader and bid team until contract signature, including customer interaction, value proposition, and need identification.
Act as capture manager and be responsible for bid milestone implementation, execution of gates, preparation of gates data, validation of gates data package, preparation or validation of pricing information, and lead bid negotiations up to contract signature.
Serve as capture leader and responsible for business development for the radiation monitors package.
Qualifications
Degree in Space or Electronic/Electrical Engineering.
5 years of experience in business development or sales activities for space.
Very good communication and presentation skills, strong ability in elevator speech.
Ability to understand the needs of the counterpart and adapt to different counterpart styles and needs.
Strong self‑organization, pro‑active attitude, strong planning and execution skills.
Comfortable working on evolving boundaries and re‑configuring work plans.
Excellent networking within the Thales Alenia Space organization, with partners, competitors, agencies and funding stakeholders.
Fluent in English (working language); advantage if can communicate in French and Italian.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Existing network into ESA and/or other relevant agencies is a plus.
