The Elementary and Middle School Voice Teacher provides individual and small group voice lessons to students in Grades Pre‑K–8 at TASIS. This is an hourly contract position, with the majority of lessons scheduled after 4:00 PM on weekdays. The teacher is responsible for delivering age‑appropriate vocal instruction, preparing students for performances as required, and collaborating with the Performing Arts Department to support the school’s music program.
Responsibilities
Provide one‑on‑one and small group voice lessons to Elementary and Middle School students (Grades Pre‑K–8).
Design and deliver age‑appropriate instruction focused on healthy vocal technique, pitch accuracy, musical expression, and confidence‑building.
Select appropriate repertoire in consultation with the Performing Arts Department, aligned with students' developmental stages and performance opportunities.
Prepare students for informal and formal performances, including recitals, assemblies, and school concerts as required.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, lesson content, and student progress.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student development and goals.
Coordinate lesson scheduling in collaboration with families and the Performing Arts Department, primarily outside of regular school hours.
Contribute to the broader goals of the Performing Arts program by attending meetings or events as requested.
Adhere to TASIS school policies, safeguarding guidelines, and professional conduct expectations.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance, Music Education, or a related field is required.
Formal training in vocal technique suitable for developing young voices is essential.
Additional certification or coursework in music education, child development, or related areas is an advantage.
Professional and Personal Skills
Demonstrated experience teaching voice to children and adolescents in a school or studio setting.
Strong knowledge of age‑appropriate vocal technique and repertoire, with an understanding of the changing voice.
Ability to engage and motivate young learners in a positive, patient, and supportive manner.
Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills, particularly in managing a flexible, after‑school schedule.
Collaborative mindset and willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary performing arts team.
Professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of teaching and conduct.
Additional Responsibilities The ES and MS voice teacher might be requested to perform other duties relevant to the position; these duties will be assigned by the School and/or his/her Supervisor and will be in line with Swiss law provisions.
