(80 - 100%) Senior Power Electronics Engineer This position reports to: Chapter Lead.
In this role, you will contribute to ABB's success with technology, software, product, and system development. You will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems and showcase your expertise by providing ideas and working both independently and as part of a Research&Development team.
You will join an agile, cross‑functional team of approximately 8-15 employees focused on designing and developing new products. This role is contributing to the Power Protection/EL/SP/R&D in Switzerland. Work model: On Site.
Accountable for:
Working as an independent and reliable contributor in R&D projects with limited supervision.
Understanding and applying applicable processes, standards, guidelines, and requirements, including architectural and design constraints.
Driving the achievement of assigned targets (quality, time, scope, cost) and raising and addressing risks.
Designing and developing power converters.
Specifying components and defining technical requirements with suppliers.
Supporting the overall design cycle of the new product, from simulation to validation and documentation, through design and test.
Conducting and coordinating complex analyses, developing recommendations based on technology/engineering practices and business considerations.
Supporting operations and after sales organization during troubleshooting phases.
Planning and coordinating a range of complex technology/engineering activities.
Qualifications for the role:
Master in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with thesis in Power Electronics OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics and equivalent work experience.
More than 6 years of electrical engineering experience.
Experience with power electronic design topologies, knowledge of UPS technology and familiarity with power protection.
Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice and programming language C.
Good communication skills in English, oral and written. Other languages are an asset.
Significant experience working within a complex organization.
Willingness to travel occasionally (10%).
