Several years of solid professional experience Start date ideally: 1 July 2026 Executive Team As Director of Sales, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of all the hotel’s proactive sales activities and will lead the sales team with a clear focus on objectives and an entrepreneurial mindset. Working closely and strategically with the Director of Marketing and the Revenue Management Team, you will develop and implement a sustainable sales strategy in line with thebrand.
The aim of the role is to ensure a strong, differentiated and commercially successful market positioning for the hotel through your overall responsibility for the sales division, thereby making a significant contribution to maximising the company’s turnover and profits – particularly in the context of a new hotel opening.
You will develop long-term sales strategies for the opening phase and ongoing operations, set clear priorities for your team and ensure their consistent implementation. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all Arabella Hospitality and Luxury Collection brand, quality and process standards, and will drive the continuous development of the product, market performance and internal structures.
Responsibilities
Responsibility for expanding existing business relationships and developing new national and international markets and segments
Strategic focus on luxury travel agencies, luxury tour operators, consortia, and group, conference and incentive clients
Overall responsibility for increasing the hotel’s revenue from accommodation, events and catering
Close collaboration with Marketing and Revenue Management to ensure sustainable profit maximisation
Personal management of international key accounts and contract negotiations; maintaining relationships with key hotel and destination partners in Locarno and Ticino
Management of all proactive sales activities, including trade fairs, sales trips, familiarisation trips, client meetings, and sales and marketing campaigns (including Marriott/Arabella initiatives)
Responsibility for the Commercial Action Plan and all action plans within the sales department
Preparation of the business plan and sales budget, as well as month‑end reporting for the owner
Management, development and motivation of the sales team, including shift planning, bonus calculation, training, performance reviews and structured induction
Ensuring compliance with brand, quality and process standards (Marriott International&Arabella Hospitality SE)
Active development of structures, processes and market performance; undertaking projects on behalf of the General Manager
Attendance at relevant management, strategy and departmental meetings, as well as Manager‑on‑Duty shifts in accordance with hotel regulations
Profile
Several years of solid professional experience in sales within the luxury hotel industry, with excellent contacts in the international luxury leisure, consortia and high‑end segments, and proven market knowledge of the international luxury travel sector
Strong market awareness and a robust personal network; you are familiar with decision‑making processes, trends and relevant key players
Proven leadership skills with responsibility for a sales team, as well as experience in building, motivating and sustainably developing teams; ideally, experience in the context of hotel openings or repositioning
Business‑fluent language skills in German, Italian and English
Willingness to travel internationally frequently for sales trips, trade fairs and networking events
Experience of working with international hotel brands or structures (e.g. Marriott) would be an advantage
Confident, engaging personality with strong negotiation and closing skills
Strategic thinking combined with a strong hands‑on approach
Excellent communication and presentation skills at senior or executive level
