Accelerator Physicist, beam dynamics, Geneva

The project focuses on advanced beam dynamics studies. Building on beam tests at the LHC completed in 2025 as part of theTWOCRYSTexperiment, the work will analyse data from a fixed-target setup using bent crystals. You will support studies for a future experiment, including evaluating required machine modifications and timelines.Working with detector and instrumentation teams, you will investigate beam-matter interactions, crystal channeling, and background sources. After additional data-taking in 2026, you will analyse beam measurements and assess future performance, combining modelling, simulation, and experimental data contributing to the Physics Beyond Colliders initiative at CERN.Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria

You are a national of aCERN Member State or Associate Member State . Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani and Lithuanian nationals for positions with a 2026 start date, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached. By the application deadline, you have a master’s degree with 2 to 6 years of professional experience since graduation or a PhD with a maximum of 3 years of professional experience since graduation. You are not eligible with only a bachelor’s degree.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
