Associate Minister, Church of Scotland, Geneva Job Description: Associate Minister to lead the life, work and witness of the historic English‑speaking Church of Scotland, Geneva.

Responsibilities

Celebration of the Sacraments: Lord’s Supper and Baptism.

Preaching and conduct of worship.

Moderating meetings of the Geneva Kirk Session.

Conducting funerals, blessing of weddings and confirmation classes.

Providing pastoral care to the wider community of Geneva, not limited to members.

Outreach and Mission

Lead and develop strategies to introduce new people to the gospel.

Build relationships through personal evangelism, community engagement and partnerships.

Encourage, train and empower church members for outreach.

Develop pathways for newcomers from first contact to active membership.

Congregational Revitalisation

Work with the Minister, OLM and Kirk Sessions to foster spiritual growth, unity and renewed vision.

Encourage healthy discipleship through small groups, pastoral visitation and teaching.

Support integration of new members into the life and ministry of the church.

Identify and develop emerging leaders.

Contribute creatively to renewal of church life, pastoral care, worship participation and community life.

Enhance the children’s ministry, building on the existing Sunday School.

Qualifications&Experience

Passionate shepherd with a proven track record of leading teams and growing initiatives.

Integrity of faith and life, with Christ‑like values and attitudes.

Strong, authentic communicator capable of relating Biblical truths in practical, creative ways.

Bachelor's degree in theology or divinity from an accredited institution.

Preferably at least 5 years in a lead ministry context.

Language English (fluent)– the working language. Non‑Swiss/EU/EEA candidates must have beginner level French.

Compensation and Benefits Full‑time position following the Church of Scotland stipend scale, adjusted for cost of living in Switzerland. Benefits include use of the manse, health insurance, paid vacation, support for French language classes and the opportunity to continue ministry to the English‑speaking Reformed congregation.

Employment Details

Employment type: Full time, Swiss contract.

Location: Geneva, 1202 Genève (GE).

Workload: 100 %.

Employment start: By agreement.

Employment duration: Permanent (3 years renewable).

Work form: Sunday and holiday work.

Work experience required: More than 3 years.

Education: Bachelor’s degree.

English skill: Very good knowledge (oral&written).

French skill: Basic knowledge.
