Position Internship
Grade: N/A
Duty Station: Geneva, Switzerland
Commencement of Duty: 2 February 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter
Nature of Appointment: Internship, 6 months
Organizational Unit Internal Oversight Office (IOO)

Pursuant to WMO Standing Instructions, the minimum age to be eligible for consideration for vacant positions is 18, and the maximum age must enable the candidate to serve for at least the term of the contract before reaching mandatory age of separation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in evaluating the applicability of advanced data analytics, machine learning, AI, and process automation technologies to expand the scope and effectiveness of complaints handling and investigations.
Contribute to the design and development of new prototypes that demonstrate innovative applications of data analytics, machine learning, AI, or automation within the context of fraud detection, investigative analysis, and audit processes.
Support the refinement and enhancement of existing tools and prototypes, enabling IOO staff to integrate them into their workflows more effectively.
Participate in efforts to improve the overall efficiency, accuracy, and impact of oversight assignments through the application of data-driven solutions.
Document findings, prototype functionalities, and use cases to ensure knowledge sharing and replicability.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications Education Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor's or master's program in Data Science, Computer Science, Finance, or other relevant applied science. Preference for specialization in AI and machine learning.
Experience
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required.
Hands‑on experience developing, testing, and using AI or ML technologies for cognitive analysis and process automation.
Familiarity with ERP systems, including data integration, workflow automation, and reporting functionalities.
Familiar with AI and machine learning language tools like Python, R, and SQL.
Familiarity with forensic fraud investigations and internal audits is a plus.
Other Requirements
Ability to work independently.
Internships will be in Geneva or home‑based.
Languages Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written).
(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
