ABOUT THE OMCT The OMCT works with around 200 member organisations which constitute its SOS-Torture Network, to end torture, fight impunity and protect human rights defenders worldwide. Together, we make up the largest global group actively standing up to torture in more than 75 countries. Helping local voices be heard, we support our vital partners in the field and provide direct assistance to victims. Our international secretariat is based in Geneva, with offices in Brussels and Tunis.
ROLE&RESPONSIBILITIES The Communications Intern will be part of a small, dynamic communications team responsible for enhancing OMCT’s visibility, increasing audience engagement and reach across digital platforms, coordinating communications for advocacy initiatives, and supporting fundraising efforts. The intern will assist with a wide range of communications tasks across various channels, with a particular emphasis on digital platforms, including social media and the website. The intern will work closely with staff responsible for digital communications and content production and will report to the Director of Communications.
Key responsibilities include providing support to the Communications Team by assisting with the following tasks:
Support for Digital Communications
Assist in managing OMCT’s digital communication channels—including social media and the website—in close collaboration with the staff member responsible for digital communications.
Contribute to the creation and dissemination of social media content, including visuals.
Support the analysis and reporting of web and social media analytics.
Assist in the digital dissemination of blog posts, videos, statements, and reports.
Aid in the production and publication of the OMCT Annual Report, with a particular focus on its digital component.
Liaison with Providers
Serve as the primary point of contact for external translators, as required.
Coordinate the uploading of invoices related to collaborations with all external providers (translators, videographers, graphic designers) into the relevant OMCT software.
Support for Content Production
Assist in the development of digital, written, and multimedia materials in close collaboration with the staff member responsible for content production.
Support for Media Relations
Help produce media materials and coordinate interviews with journalists, as well as organize media events, in close collaboration with the Director of Communications, as needed.
Support for Capacity Building
Assist in the design and implementation of training sessions on communication-related topics, in close collaboration with the Director of Communications, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Currently enrolled in studies in full or part-time studies in communications, PR, journalism, marketing, or a related subject
Candidates must be available for 40-50% during the term and 100% during term holidays
Digitally savvy, with knowledge of social media platforms, Canva, and ideally some experience with video editing and graphic design tools.
Strong writing and editing skills in English and/or French. Knowledge of Spanish is an advantage.
Interest in international relations and human rights.
Articulate, creative, passionate, dynamic, solutions-oriented, and flexible.
Demonstrated willingness to work as part of a team and to provide help, assistance, and support to colleagues.

WHAT WE OFFER Duration of the internship: 6 months
