Our team in the VSL Technologies Business Line supports VSL’s Profit Centers with cutting‑edge technology solutions. Our portfolio includes structural bearings, ground anchors, post‑tensioning systems, Stay cable systems, and all related equipment. From research and development to the final handover, our multidisciplinary team covers the entire product lifecycle, all while focusing on reducing the carbon footprint in the infrastructure sector.
Together, we are dedicated to advancing innovative engineering and high‑quality execution to preserve our built environment. Our diverse engineering teams blend civil, structural, mechanical, and data science skills in a collaborative, gender‑diverse setting. This is a position with a workload of 80–100%, available immediately.
Your Role&Main Responsibilities As a Mechanical Designer based in Bern with knowledge and experience in drafting plans and concrete structures, you will be part of our VSL Technology team. You will collaborate on structural and civil engineering projects and work closely with our internal engineering team and our drafting team in Spain.
Technical Drafting&CAD
Prepare and submit manufacturing drawings to required standards
Support engineers with construction drawings
Apply ISO/ASME GD&T standards to ensure parts fit together regardless of manufacturer
Documentation&Quality Assurance
Perform tolerance stack‑up analyses to prevent assembly issues
Prepare comprehensive documentation for manufacturing and qualification procedures
Ensure quality standards are met throughout the design and drafting cycle
Collaboration&Reporting
Work closely with internal engineers, department colleagues, and the drafting team in Spain
Write detailed technical reports and present project findings
Occasional travel to our Subingen site (approx. once per month)
Your Profile Education&Experience
EFZ as Konstrukteur (Mechanical Designer), equivalent technical education, or Diploma as Mechanical Engineering Technician HF
Intermediate level (3–5 years) of professional experience in a comparable role
Strong understanding of ISO/ASME GD&T standards and ability to perform tolerance stack‑up analyses
Proficiency in SolidWorks; CATIA or Autodesk Inventor equally accepted
Knowledge of kinematics, component selection, machining (CNC, DFM), sheet metal cutting&welding, or injection molding is a plus
Languages
German: Very good knowledge (mandatory); good English required
English: Very good knowledge (mandatory); good German required
Personality
Strong ownership: completes tasks and follows through
Reliable, structured, and well‑organized working style
Detail‑oriented: ensures accuracy and consistency in work output
