Trainee Packaging Engineer– Bern, May 7, 2026 Responsibilities

Contribute to packaging development activities for assigned product categories or Business Units, working under the guidance of Packaging Engineers. Prepare packaging briefings and support structured supplier communication and follow-ups based on defined inputs. Assist with prototype and sample reviews by capturing feedback, documenting observations, and tracking follow‑up actions.Support basic packaging testing and validation activities (e.g., transport/handling performance), including documentation of results and follow‑up actions. Coordinate operational tasks within the seasonal packaging process, including preparation and distribution of information and status updates.Organise and track packaging samples for N/O Sales Meetings to ensure readiness against timelines. Execute approved packaging updates and change requests (e.g., colour or minor structural adjustments) following defined processes. Maintain packaging die lines and artworks within agreed folder structures, ensuring correct versioning and production readiness.Update and maintain packaging data and documentation (e.g., Packaging Data Sheets, Flex PLM specifications, Assembly Instructions) to ensure completeness, accuracy, and traceability. Support structured data management practices (e.g., trackers, change logs, version control) to ensure transparency and consistency across systems.Maintain packaging guidelines and related documentation according to defined standards. Support the handling of packaging claims documentation and coordinate supplier‑related topics, escalating issues when required. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Product Line Managers, Product Developers, Procurement, Supply Chain, Compliance, Retail, Marketing) to ensure smooth execution of packaging processes.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within packaging, including processes, workflows, and data quality. Prepare and adapt packaging artworks using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign under guidance, ensuring files are production‑ready for handover. Requirements

Understanding of packaging development principles and seasonal product creation workflows. Knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing and printing processes, sustainability, and compliance requirements. Awareness of packaging performance considerations (e.g., protection, transport, handling) and basic testing/validation approaches.Awareness of manufacturing feasibility considerations (e.g., tolerances, print quality, production constraints). Strong attention to detail with a structured and methodical way of working. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with guidance and clear prioritisation. Clear communication and collaboration skills with internal stakeholders and suppliers.Task coordination skills and a proactive approach to follow‑ups and status tracking. Working proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign (or similar prepress/artwork tools). Understanding artwork production workflows, layouts, file formats, and version control. Confident handling of technical data and specifications (e.g., structured files, PLM data,Excel).Interest in data quality, traceability, and digital tools used in packaging development. Data and analytics mindset: ability to identify inconsistencies and support improvements in packaging accuracy and efficiency. Comfortable using digital productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, Teams) and Microsoft Copilot to support documentation, data handling, and stakeholder communication.Exposure to packaging CAD or dieline tools is an advantage. Support timely delivery of packaging tasks in line with seasonal timelines. Ensure accuracy and completeness of packaging data and documentation. Contribute to maintaining quality and consistency of packaging and artworks. Language Skills

English: oral&in writing– Required. German&French– Preferred. Others – Advantage. Professional Background / Educational Background

First hands‑on experience (e.g., internship, project work, or apprenticeship) in packaging, mechanical engineering, industrial design, or prepress/printing is required. Basic knowledge of packaging production, technical drawings, artwork handling, and printing processes is expected. Completed Bachelor’sdegree (or equivalent) in Packaging Engineering.
