Process Engineering Consultant - German speaking, Bern

We are looking for a Process&Project Consultant Engineer to join our teams and support project development and execution activities within the Global Engineering Department. The position is a permanent contract (CDI) and a consultant role within our Life Sciences experts (not a contractor).

Responsibilities

Lead the development of engineering projects from initial idea through feasibility, conceptual design, detailed preparation, and execution, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and quality expectations.

Design process and utility plants and coordinate project execution with engineering partners and internal stakeholders up to successful commissioning and start‑up.

Perform engineering calculations and prepare the required technical documentation, including specifications, design inputs, and supporting project deliverables.

Review, analyze, and challenge project ideas and requests in order to assess technical relevance, feasibility, and alignment with site and business needs.

Conduct feasibility and conceptual studies in close collaboration with internal and external partners, including Electrical, Measurement&Controls, Civil Engineering, HVAC, 3D Planning, Field Engineering, Construction Management, Fire Protection, General Planners, and other Subject Matter Experts.

Support and coordinate 3D design activities by identifying clashes, resolving technical conflicts, and managing the required design adaptations throughout the project lifecycle.

Ensure all projects comply with applicable regulatory requirements, internal engineering standards, and company guidelines.

Develop projects to the stage of internal approval for execution, ensuring technical maturity, cost awareness, and cross‑functional alignment.

Lead commissioning, qualification support, and acceptance activities, including active participation in integrated and functional testing.

Interface with general designers, internal departments, contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure efficient communication and execution follow‑up.

Oversee the collection, verification, and handover of as‑built technical documentation to the final user in a complete and compliant manner.

Facilitate the smooth transfer of systems and installations to future owners and operators, ensuring operational readiness and proper technical handover.

Profile

Degree in Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Proven experience in plant design, project execution, and commissioning, ideally within infrastructure‑related environments such as HVAC, piping, and civil engineering.

Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, feasibility studies, conceptual engineering, and process documentation.

Solid experience in 3D coordination, plant start‑up activities, and management of technical documentation.

Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and international project teams, with strong communication and coordination skills.

Structured, proactive, and solution‑oriented mindset, with the ability to manage multiple interfaces in complex engineering environments.

Fluency in English and German is mandatory.
